Hearing Aid Repair & Maintenance

Hearing aids are comprised of incredibly miniature pieces of technology, that even with proper care and maintenance, may succumb to wear and tear over time. When this happens, your hearing aids typically won’t be performing optimally either. Whether you’re noticing static, decreased volumes or low battery life, the team at Clark Hearing is familiar with a number of different issues. Because we understand how vital your devices are to your everyday life, we offer a variety of repair and maintenance services to get your hearing aids back in working order as soon as possible.

Common Hearing Aid Issues

Perhaps your battery door has come unhinged, making it difficult to keep the battery in place. This issue typically requires minimal repairs, making it a quick fix. Often, you can realign the door and snap it back into place, but if the hinge is broken, a visit to your audiologist or hearing aid provider might be necessary to replace the door.

Another frequent problem is feedback or whistling sounds coming from the hearing aid. This can happen if the hearing aid is not seated correctly in the ear, if there is earwax buildup or if there is a problem with the fit of the earmold. Ensuring the hearing aid is properly fitted and regularly cleaned can help mitigate these issues.

Intermittent sound or distortion might also occur. This can be caused by moisture in the hearing aid, which can be addressed by using a hearing aid dehumidifier. Additionally, connectivity issues with Bluetooth-enabled hearing aids can arise, often resolved by re-pairing the device with your phone or other gadgets.

Lastly, a hearing aid might switch off unexpectedly. This can be due to a low battery, a dirty battery compartment or even a software issue. Checking the battery and cleaning the compartment, as well as ensuring your hearing aid’s software is up to date, can usually resolve these problems.

These common hearing aid issues generally require simple troubleshooting and can often be resolved at home, ensuring your device functions effectively and enhances your hearing experience.

If you can’t find a solution at home, our hearing specialists are always happy to help. We’ll do what we can to fix your problem in our office the same day you bring your hearing aid to us. But if that’s not possible, we’ll help you get the device back to your manufacturer for repairs as quickly as we can.

Hearing Aid Warranties

Hearing aids usually come with a warranty when purchased new. If your device needs repairs and is still under warranty, you may not have to pay anything for the fixes you need.

If your hearing aids aren’t under warranty any longer, it may still be possible to fix them for a small fee. This will depend on the extent of the repairs needed and the age of the device. In some cases, it will make more financial sense to replace the devices instead of repairing them. You can count on our hearing specialists to help you make that decision.

Hearing Aid Maintenance

Part of getting as much out of your hearing aids as possible is taking good care of them. This means cleaning them daily and removing the batteries at night to let any moisture left behind evaporate.

Your hearing aids may have other maintenance requirements based on their manufacturer, features and style. We’re always happy to help you learn more about how to take care of your new hearing aids. We’ll guide you through the process when you first receive a new device and can provide ongoing support in the office and over the phone as you need it.
